So often, we watch films and wonder why our lives aren’t as romantic or spontaneous. But movies don’t show us the in between moments of life. This body of work is creating cinematic moments from everyday life. If a photographer were to trail you for a week and give you a cinematic portfolio at the end, it would seem like a movie. So, in creating this work, I wanted to inspire a romanticized life.
This particular body of work follows the story of a girl learning to romanticize her own life. While at the beginning she is longing for a movie life, by the end she has learned to live in the moments and embrace the in-betweens.
The word romanticize is defined to “deal with or describe in an idealized or unrealistic fashion; make (something) seem better or more appealing than it really is.” In some contexts, maybe this is true, but when it comes to life, the ‘unrealistic’ is believing that your life isn’t as great as it actually is.
This aspect ratio is closest to how we see the world through our own eyes, therefore creating a more immersive image.

So, what do I want you to take from this? Your life is incredible, please don’t take a single moment for granted. The in-between moments can be just as good as the crazy moments; the waking up to a beautiful day, the sipping coffee in your own presence, the moving moments throughout your days, the falling into bed, content after a fulfilling day.
